Madam, – Minister for Justice Dermot Ahern has defended sending on the concerns of the family of prisoner Michael McKevitt to the minister for justice of the time. McKevitt was convicted of the crime of directing terrorism under legislation following the Omagh massacre. How do the victims of Omagh feel, given that they have been denied their justice?
Is this the same Dermot Ahern who took TDs Jim Higgins and Brendan Howlin to task for passing on matters concerning Donegal to another minister for justice without going public with their allegations? Given Mr Ahern was a minister at the time, and is now the Minister for Justice, surely there is no option but for him to resign, and failing that for the Taoiseach (if he has any authority left)) to sack him. – Yours, etc,
