Sir, – Are hands-free mobiles not allowed in cars any longer? I make this point on the basis of the number of drivers I see on mobile phones while driving. Are drivers just unaware of the risks involved? I do not blame the Garda. Drivers should be aware of the risks involved.
Yesterday when driving on a road with a continuous white line and approaching a junction, I saw a car signal and stop on the road. When I passed, the driver was on his phone. He presumably had just stopped to take a call. Did this mean he could not be accused of driving while on the phone?
Could we please have a new campaign focusing on the risks involved in using a mobile while driving? – Yours, etc,
LIAM FOLEY,
