Sir, – It was good to see Fintan O'Toole including In Her Own Image, that marvellous volume of poetry and illustration, published by Arlen House in 1980 ("Modern Ireland in 100 Artworks", February 13th). The front cover to that edition has "Poems by Eavan Boland" and "Drawings by Constance Short" in equal prominence.
Eavan Boland is a great poet and always worthy of recognition and praise. So too is Constance Short’s art, which here provides powerful, complementary images, intrinsic to the whole brave and thrilling volume. As Fintan O’Toole overlooked this aspect, perhaps he might now reinstate it. – Yours, etc,
LELIA DOOLAN,
Kilcolgan, Co Galway.
