Madam, - As someone who thinks a day could come when Mordechai Vanunu will be accorded the same esteem for political courage and non-violent opposition to militarist myopia as Nelson Mandela currently enjoys, I wonder if there is any good reason why he should not be granted the Irish political asylum he is requesting (The Irish Times, August 4th)?
Or, like neutrality, is our anti-nuclear-weapon stance just part of that cosmetic exercise we indulge in just so long as it doesn't rock any diplomatic boats? - Yours, etc.,
