Sir, - I read with interest that the Minister for Justice is considering further changes to the law, relating to rape and violence against women.
On October 1st, 1995 there, were 51 cases of murder and rape awaiting trial before the Central Criminal Court. The Minister for Justice then introduced a variety of "anti crime measures" including the appointment of new judges and special court sittings in September.
On October 1st, 1996 there were 65 cases of murder and rape awaiting trial before the Central Criminal Court. On this occasion, might it be possible to make progress in the opposite direction? - Yours, etc.,
