MOTOR INSURANCE

PAUL O'NEILL,

PAUL O'NEILL,

Sir, - The publication of the Motor Insurance Advisory Board's report has at last highlighted for all to see the contemptible avarice of the Irish motor insurance industry.

I am reminded of my first experience of this practice when in 1979 my cousin (then aged 16 and living in Dublin) managed to insure his first vehicle, a Honda 50 motorcycle, for £340. At the same time another cousin (also aged 16) was driving an identical bike with similar insurance cover for £45. He lived in London. - Yours, etc.,

PAUL O'NEILL, Newcastle, Co Wicklow.
