Sir, – Recently I was with my walking group when we came off the Wicklow Way at Curtlestown in Glencree. Beneath the no dumping sign was a pile of plastic bags and batteries.
I called the PURE (Protecting Uplands & Rural Environments) phone number and within half an hour, before I got back to the car, the PURE truck passed me on its way up the valley to collect the waste.
Perhaps the delays noted by your correspondents says more about how busy the PURE service is in dealing with the debris dumped by unpatriotic wasters? – Yours, etc,
