CLIODNA CUSSEN,
A chara, - As a long-time member of An Taisce, may I formally disassociate myself from An Taisce's end-of-year report (The Irish Times, December 28th) in which it castigates the Government for its focus on Sellafield, "about which they can probably do nothing", and urges us "to start the good fight for a good environment at home".
I would remind An Taisce that:
(a) A nuclear accident in Sellafield will spread pollution causing on-going genetic damage.
(b) Current emissions from Sellafield are considered to cause concerns. The Mox facility will increase these emissions.
(c) The Government is right in its actions. An Taisce, which is our environmental watchdog, should give it full support. - Is mise,
