Sir, - I read your front-page report, "October presidential election likely", (July 25th) with dismay. By agreeing to the demands of Mr Annan to resign her position as President of this country before her term has ended in order to take up the job of UN High Commisioner for Human Rights at his convenience, Mrs Robinson has demeaned the office she held with such apparent pride. I assume she feels her future career in the UN takes precedence to the office which the people of Ireland conferred upon her. Shame on you, Mary. - Yours, etc.,
