Sir, – Maureen Lynch asks why cock fighting is banned, but multi martial arts is not (July 17th). The answers is simple. Cock fighting is banned, and I think rightly so, because the animals do not have a choice. Multi martial arts is not and again I think rightly so, because the humans that compete in it are sentient beings, who make the decision for themselves and are in a position to pay their own medical and funeral expenses. The question is predicated on humans being able to make decisions for themselves while facing the consequences of those decisions and not harming others. No one has to participate in this and no one has to watch it. – Yours, etc,
