Madam, - I welcome the news that the great lady Granuaile is to be the subject of a musical on Broadway (The Irish Times, November 4th).
She was without doubt the most illustrious member of my clan, but was never chief. Brehon Law - in so many other ways pro-woman - forbade it.
As for her "passionate love life", she married OFlaherty, he died and she married de Burgo. There is no evidence of any other romantic liaisons. - Yours, etc,
