Sir, - I find it puzzling that so many parents should call their boys Jack (The Irish Times, May 30th). Jack is not a name, it is a noun. Collins Dictionary: "jack n: device for raising a motor car or other heavy object." While it is laudable to appreciate mundane working tools, are we going a little far calling our children after them? Where will it end - spoon, fridge, telephone? - Yours, etc.,
