Madam, - One word for the new-look Irish Times: Cool! Thank you. - Yours, etc.,
N.RAMESH, Dean Court, Dublin 8.

Madam, - Well done and congratulations on The Irish Times's new "coat". I have loved your paper since I came to live in Ireland in the early 1960s. - Yours, etc.,
SOPHIE FITZGERALD-ALBREGTS, Temple Vale, Blackrock, Cork.

Madam, - I knew instantly that something was wrong. The Irish Times was less "weighty": a bit like Aer Lingus after the shamrock got skewed for a million. Only the masthead lay above water, Hesperus-like.
If you had wanted Poynters, you should have consulted us, your loyal Luddite readers, or Kevin Myers.
What possessed you all? We expect some dignity and decorum from the Old Lady of D'Olier Street, not "tarting up" for potential admirers. - Yours, etc.,
PAUL MOORE, Trim, Co Meath.

Madam, - Congratulations and thanks from an 87-year-old, with ageing sight, whose day would be incomplete without The Irish Times. - Yours, etc.,
Mrs JULIA TRENCH, Birr, Co Offaly.
