Last Sunday and Monday, the violent remains of Hurricane "Lily" lashed our southern counties with a ferocity seldom surpassed, yet our national television news service remained silent on "Lily" on Monday's 6 o'clock news. The silence contrasts sharply with frequent news bulletins on stray or late Dublin buses, or reduced water pressure in Dun Laoghaire or Howth.
Surely a national news service, paid for by all of us, should be:
aware of what is happening in the 26 counties? Or has RTE adopted a policy on bank holidays of not covering issues outside a 30 mile radius of Donnybrook? Of course we could wait, the storm will eventually reach the east coast in some form, and the nine o'clock news will enlighten us all. - Yours, etc.,
