Sir, As an ordinary punter, I share the sentiments expressed by Frank Cull en in his letter (July 19th). Surely Mr Murdoch's game plan must by now be obvious to everybody.

By selling his newspapers below cost, and indeed even giving them away, he is laying the groundwork for the demise of the indigenous Irish newspapers. When that happens, Mr Murdoch can then charge whatever he likes for his newspapers. As Mr Cullen points out, the Sunday limes already costs almost £3 in Brussels!

Past experience tells us that we may have to wait some time before our legislators get around to introducing appropriate measures to control this kind of predatory pricing. In the meantime, we can all do our bit by boycotting the Times, the Sunday Times the News of the World the Sun, and any other products from the Murdoch empire.
