Sir, I am enjoying, again the summer in the beautiful landscape of West Cork. Many tourists and holidaymakers of different countries are around. The Irish, the English, the French, the Germans . . . they all have a great time. There are so many, things to do, and the food is delicious.
There is only one as eel to complain about. All the tourists queue for the newspaper in their native language. You should see my face dropping when they all walk away, pleased to have their paper.
The Frankfurter Allegmeine Zeitung has not arrived that day. Though my newsagent in Schull is eager to get and hold it for me, my paper arrives irregularly. it is a daily lottery game.
I even contacted the distribution manager in Frankfurt, who told me that the Frankurter arrived already in the evening be fore the day of issue. He also let me know that there is one distributor in, Ireland who holds control of foreign newspapers: Eason and Sons.
Is it not important for the Irish tourism industry that Europeans can read not only the Irish Times. but their native paper as well? It is not only The Irish Times for the time we live in. Yours, etc.,
Lissacaha,
Schull, Co Cork.
