Sir, - In response to a letter in today's issue of The Irish Times (July 13th) from a Mr Deegan concerning the memorial to Captain Noel Lemass (brother of Sean), whose mutilated body was found in the Dublin Mountains in 1923, I wish to state that this memorial was handed over to our association some time ago. We have drawings of a proposed new memorial and are appealing for funds to enable us to erect a fitting tribute.
Mr Deegan should consider himself lucky that Mr Ahern at least replied to his letter. A letter from our association was delivered to him personally at Easter, regarding the republican plot in Glasnevin Cemetery, and to date there is no acknowledgment. Is mise, (Runai), National Graves Association, 74 Dame Street, Dublin 2.
