Sir, - In 1988 Dublin Corporation's members bestowed on Nelson Mandela the Freedom of the City of Dublin. A few days ago President Mandela said: "This historic breakthrough has once again demonstrated the value of negotiation and consultation rather than confrontation and upheaval."
May I respectfully suggest to the Dublin City fathers that they consider bestowing a similar honour on Senator George Mitchell to whom we are all indebted for securing the agreement on Good Friday. - Yours, etc.,
