DESMOND GIBNEY P.C.,
Madam, - The leader of the Labour Party on Dublin City Council, Mr Tommy Broughan TD, was quoted (December 28th) as saying that he would regard it as a "kicking-out offence to vote with Fianna Fáil and the PDs" on the issue of bin charges.
Mr Broughan knows quite well that there are no PD representatives on Dublin City Council, and therefore that party can not be blamed for the present crisis facing the City Council.
Furthermore, Mr Broughan is himself no stranger to cobbling together deals between his party and Fianna Fáil in order to divide the spoils of office on the City Council.
The sooner that the dual mandate for TDs serving as councillors is abolished the better for the citizens of Dublin! - Yours, etc.,
DESMOND GIBNEY P.C., Santry, Dublin 9.
