Madam, - Recently an item of mine (a golf club) was lost on a flight from London to Dublin. The following reply from Aer Lingus has been received by loss adjusters acting on my behalf:
"Thank you for your correspondence. The claim submitted by your client valued his golf club at €550. Under the Warsaw Convention Aer Lingus is liable for the weight of the item, which is calculated at $20 per kilo up to a maximum of 20 kilos. The weight of a Calloway ERC 2 is 1 kilo; therefore putting Aer Lingus's liability at €17. If your client is happy with this amount I will gladly arrange settlement."
€17 amounts to some 3 per cent of my loss. Customer care? - Yours, etc.,
M.C. CRONIN, Duke Street, Dublin 2.
