Nuclear power and mega-projects

Sir, – Those pushing for nuclear power generators might do well to reconsider letting the Irish anywhere near such a project. Our cock-ups with building using mica and pyrite, and complete safety failures such as Priory Hall – to name but a few – suggest that letting us build nuclear reactor stations could be hazardous for the rest of the world. Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on your point of view, our experience in planning for mega-projects like the National Children’s Hospital, means that we will all probably die of the cold or old age before such a lunacy comes to pass. – Yours, etc,

LIAM POWER,

Dundalk, Co Louth.
