Madam, - Your thoughtful Editorial of February 23rd on Cathal Ó Searcaigh, and the dangers of a modern-day literary witch-hunt, contains the startling - at least to me - claim that Micheál Mac Liammóir was a pederast.
A pederast is defined in my dictionary as "a man who is sexually attracted to, or has sexual relations with, boys". I'm aware that Dr Mac Liammóir was a homosexual, or gay, or queer, but what evidence is there to suggest he was a pederast?
- Yours, etc,
PATRICK O'BYRNE, Shandon Crescent, Phibsborough, Dublin 7.
