Madam, - On Sunday last I arrived into Dublin Airport minus my luggage. It was located at the departing airport and I was assured that it would be delivered to me later that night. It didn't arrive.
On Monday morning I spent at least an hour on the phone trying to find a human voice to relocate delivery to my workplace. I finally gave up and called Minister for Transport and Communications Martin Cullen's office asking for help to talk to an Aer Lingus staff member. I was informed that the Minister had no way of contacting Aer Lingus other than by way of the numbers in the phone book.
I then called the section of the Minister's Department with responsibility for Aer Lingus. The response I received contrasted greatly. The civil servant was very courteous; he called Aer Lingus and actually succeeded in getting a staff member to phone me and arrange for the safe delivery of my luggage.
I wonder if Martin Cullen knows he still has responsibility for Aer Lingus. - Yours, etc,
Cllr MARY FREEHILL, Grove Road, Dublin 6.
