Madam, – Now that the Dart and commuter services allow bicycles off-peak (Home News, January 5th), how long until the Luas follows suit? Last Friday I was caught without raingear amid the ferocious downpours in Dublin city centre. If I had cycled home, I would have been saturated, probably catching cold. I chanced taking my bike on a virtually empty Luas, but was ejected by a conductor.
When asked for an explanation, he merely said that it was “the rules”. This rule, enforced by the Railway Procurement Agency, is against the National Cycle Framework Policy, which was drawn up by the current Government. Can we expect the Greens to reverse this rule before the general election? – Yours, etc,
