Sir, Like many others, I am delighted that the traffic plan is starting to relieve traffic gridlock in Dublin city, especially in Pearse Street in the evening time.
I believe the politicians who initiated this plan should be congratulated, however, there is no point having one law for some and another for others.
A well meaning garda was on duty in Pearse Street last Thursday evening, January 16th, at around 5.15 when he stopped a black Ministerial Mere carrying Michael Noonan and Co. He did his best to move the Minister's car into the correct lane, but alas to no avail, the garda driver just ignored his pleas and drove on in the bus lane. If an ordinary motorist did this he would be fined and even convicted of dangerous driving.
Surely this is a bad example to show other motorists and a blatant disregard of the traffic laws. - Yours, etc.,
Bishopscourt Farm,
Kilsallaghan, Co Dublin.
