A chara, – You report (June 2nd) that only 20 per cent of Leaving Certificate students take mathematics at higher level because they consider it “too demanding”, noting 80 per cent therefore exclude themselves from careers in the “much-trumpeted knowledge economy”.
Never mind. There are plenty of careers open to those without higher level maths in what must be, by deduction, the “non-knowledge” sector.
