Sir, - Patrick Comerford (Rite and Reason, August 8th) refers to the decision by the Anglican Consultative Council in 1971 that it was acceptable for a bishop, with the consent of the national church, to ordain a woman.
That resolution was adopted by 24 votes to 22. Among those voting in favour, and thereby creating the majority, were the two representatives of the Church of Ireland - the late Archbishop Armstrong and David Bleakley. This was surely worth a mention. - Yours, etc.,
J. L. B. Deane, Gartan, Bandon, Co. Cork.
