Sir, - At this time the nation feels sympathy for the soon to be unemployed workforce in Packard Electric. Within a short time, however, people will drive past the dole queue containing ex Packard workers and declare' smugly and with certainty, that most of them wouldn't take a job even if they were offered one.
The long term unemployed have become used to such slurs. Fail them, then blame them, is the comfortable and convenient shirking of national blame for the scandal of unemployment. - Yours, etc.,
