THOMAS F. SIMPSON,
Madam, - I've always had the greatest respect and admiration for those priests, brothers and nuns, who for centuries have left Ireland to spread the Gospel in pagan countries. They suffered loneliness and isolation for many years, some of them paying the supreme sacrifice for their beliefs and faith, like the two Rev. Colliers from Walshestown, Clogherhead, Co . Louth, who were both murdered in China in the late 1940s.
Recently (November 16th) we have had the Rev. Declan Collins from Baltray in the same "Wee County", murdered in Johannesburg, South Africa. These martyrs deserve to be added to the list of the "Blessed" by His Holiness the Pope in preference to people such as the recently canonised Monsignor Jose Maria Escriva, founder of Opus Dei. - Yours, etc.,
THOMAS F. SIMPSON, Leopardstown Grove, Blackrock, Co. Dublin.
