Sir, - Having read Fr Brady's letter (January 30th) I wonder if he is aware of the decision of An Bord Pleanala, which stated: "Permission is hereby refused for the retention of the partially completed visitor centre, reception building, ancillary bus and carpark".

However, it is not the car park with which I am primarily concerned. An Bord Pleanala required the site to be reinstated. Wicklow County Council, I believe, has a statutory role in this matter and is bound to act. After two years, it has not done so.

I would like to know what has happened to the £250,000 lodged with Wicklow County Council by the Office of Public Works for road widening, before the decisions of the court and An Bord Pleanala. The then Junior Minister, Mr Noel Dempsey (with responsibility for the OPW), informed the Wicklow County Councillors at a special meeting that the money had been put into a special account until such time as the widening was carried out. Has this money been returned to the OPW, as well as the accrued interest? - Yours, etc.,

Glenthorn,
