Sir, - Your report (Boost for part-time workers, The Irish Times, October 20th) may have led to some confusion. IMPACT did indeed win an important case recently, in which part-time workers in local government won equal rights to the incremental pay increases enjoyed by their full-time colleagues.
However, the case was taken in the Labour Court, not the European Court of Justice (ECJ), as reported. A separate, but equally important, case was recently won in the ECJ by a Bavarian part-time civil servant and this may have led to the confusion. - Yours, etc.,
