Sir, – Like Dr John Doherty, (Letters,October 27th) I wonder if our Minister for Foreign Affairs Charlie Flanagan tried to get his own on-line Passport Card.
In fact I don’t wonder – I know he didn’t because, if he did, he wouldn’t be so stupid as to let it continue to exist.
A friend and myself, with two separate iPhones, yesterday took approximately 60 selfies, each and every one was rejected. We were in a well-lit office, with plain white background as suggested, to no avail. We obeyed, in so far as possible, the instructions – “keep your chin on the green line and eyes within the box” etc.
The idea is fine but it appears to be impossible to complete. Poor Dr Doherty in Vienna at least got as far as submitting the application, which is more than we did, and, even then, his was sent back!
Like Irish Water, the idea seems good, but appallingly applied. – Yours, etc,
DERMOT WALSH,
Douglas Road,
Cork.
