PAUL HENRY EXHIBITION

EOIN DILLON,

EOIN DILLON,

Madam, - I remember being told of a cartoon that appeared in Dublin Opinion, in the 1940s I think. Two men in Connemara are leaning against their bicycles and looking at the view: blue rolling hill, thatched cottage, smoking chimney. One looks to the other and says: "I see Paul Henry has been here before us."

The point, in part, is that once you have seen one Paul Henry, you have seen them all. Not quite true; but giving over the new wing of the National Gallery to show a hundred of them is a questionable use of resources. - Yours, etc.,

EOIN DILLON,
