A chara, - Patrick Flood (May 23rd) will be pleased to learn that the purchase of the Pearse family home at 27 Pearse Street is now almost completed. It is the intention of the buyers - who have constituted themselves as Institiuid na hEireann - to preserve and restore this historic building for use as a centre for educational, historical and cultural research. Institiuid na hEireann will be formally launched next September.
While the money to buy 27 Pearse Street has been secured, about £300,000 will have to be raised to restore the building in a manner and to a standard befitting its importance.
