Madam, - I notice that a special law was enacted to allow one person, former minister Michael Woods get his pension and generous lump sum of €75,000 back money. He apparently neglected to look after it at the time. This could not of course be extended to other people, Minister for Finance Brian Cowen told those affected.
I have to ask is this the same Michael Woods who was allowed out, without officials and in secrecy, to negotiate the shabby deal on behalf of the State with the religious orders concerning the sex abuse compensation, and for which we are coughing up heavily and will continue to do so. How about bringing about a change in that law also, Mr Cowen? - Yours, etc,
BRENDAN CAFFERTY, Ballina, Co Mayo.
