PENSIONERS' BUS PASSES

TOM ROWLEY,

TOM ROWLEY,

Madam, - M. Hegarty (November 13th) queried what will become of the travel scheme for pensioners if some bus services in Dublin are franchised out to private operators as part of the proposed reform of public transport.

The Minister for Transport, Séamus Brennan, TD, is pleased to confirm that any company that is successful in securing the franchise for a route or routes will be required to participate in the free travel scheme so that pensioners will not be affected. - Yours, etc.,

TOM ROWLEY, Press Officer, Department of Transport, Kildare Street, Dublin 2.
