Sir, - Ireland took a huge step forward last Monday with the announcement of substantial funding towards providing the necessary supports to enable people with disabilities to live in the community with the maximum degree of independence. At last, we have arrived at a point where there seems to be a real attempt to give people with disabilities the opportunity to avail of the advances in technology which for so long have been the source of such immense hope but incredible frustration because of lack of financial resources.
