A chara, -- Frank McNally (Irishman's Diary, Nov 7th) wrote facetiously about cyclists using footpaths. That escalating practice is not so funny for vulnerable pedestrians. While walking on a narrow footpath near Dalkey, I challenged a woman who was cycling recklessly on the pavement. Her reaction was to hurl personal abuse at me.
Your columnist's recent diary may encourage anti-social behaviour. Dublin used to be a great city for cyclists who respected walkers' rights. Let's have extra cycle lanes but not on footpaths. - Is mise,
