Sir, - The revelation in the Irish Times survey (Business This Week, April 3rd) that petrol and ancillary fuel prices have gone up in Cork city and suburbs comes as no surprise to motorists who, for years, have complained about the petrol cartel that operates in Cork city. This cartel was copper-fastened with the take-over of Jet Fuels.
From the silence of our Dail representatives one would have to assume that the cartel operates with their approval. Would this not be an opportune time for the Automobile Association to expand its operation into fuel distribution or organise the combined motoring interests to lobby on behalf of motorists? - Yours, etc.,
Dan Costello
