Sir, – I like my sport as much as the next man so I share Conor Pope’s disappointment (Life & Culture, September 5th) that the Euro 2012 qualifier and the hurling All-Ireland weren’t screened at the Electric Picnic. But why slag off “pointy-headed debates” on the IRA and the Nazis (and without the courtesy of mentioning the organiser, the History Ireland Hedge School). Perhaps your reviewer is merely expressing his frustration at not being able to get into the tent.

All three Hedge School events (including another “pointy-headed” discussion on Cromwell and an interview with Eamon McCann) were packed out. – Yours, etc,
