Madam, - We have global warming that threatens the planet with desertification and flooding. The fossil fuels that took millions of years to form will have been used up within 300 years of the start of the industrial revolution.
Locally we have a Government that is building roads that the NRA says are not required for current or future traffic volumes, and we have a waste crisis: while the percentage of waste being recycled is going up, this is meaningless against the ever-increasing total waste volumes.
But not to worry. Martin Mansergh tells us (Opinion, March 13th) that the environment is fine because public parks will soon be smoke-free zones and plastic bags have been taxed.
Madam, are you sure that article was not meant for your April 1st edition? - Yours, etc.,
