DESMOND BENNETT,
Sir, - As the general election is now over, there is legislation in place to force political parties to rapidly remove posters from lamp-posts, along with their plastic ties. Many posters still remain, but a large number of ties have not been removed. As plastic non-biodegradable posters were generally used this time around, the ties are heavier and longer than usual and because posters were used from top to bottom on many posts, many protrude dangerously at eye level on our streets.
As usual, litter legislation is not being enforced, reflecting the non performance of the previous Minister to tackle the litter issue. As it looks as if the Soldiers of Destiny may again appoint one of their number to this non-performing role, let that Department adopt the proud slogan "Nothing done; nothing will ever be done". - Yours, etc.,
DESMOND BENNETT,
