POST-ELECTION PLASTIC

JOHN G. CONNOLLY,

JOHN G. CONNOLLY,

Sir, - The posters are, thankfully, gone. But what is to happen to the thousands of redundant plastic cable ties that now hang as mementoes to our politicians' desire for publicity on posts and poles right across the State? I heard a group of tourists on a Dublin street recently discussing what these things could possibly be for! It surely can't be long before they become part of our folklore.

Can our new Minister for the Environment tackle the issue as the political parties obviously have no desire to go beyond the letter of their obligations? - Yours, etc.,

JOHN G. CONNOLLY, Athlumney, Co Meath.
