Sir, – We all want to hear bad news, so long as it is not personal. We all like to hear good news, so long as it makes sense. John FitzGerald's analysis of the economic outlook is welcome because it makes a lot of sense ("Why this recession will not be as enduring as the last", Business Opinion, September 4th). When an outstanding economist, known for his cautious approach, predicts a relatively rapid economic recovery, we should pay attention.
