Madam, - I see that the ESB has announced, with pride this week that it has brought modern electricity supplies to the Basque Country, Bilbao and is now extending further into Spain.
Would it be possible for the board to use some of this expertise in Ireland? In parts of Bunclody, Co Wexford, we have two or more prolonged interruptions to our supply every month. This is a matter of inconvenience to those living in the town.
Among the rural farming community the result is catastrophic. They rely completely on electricity for the pumps for wells to supply water to their livestock, there being no mains supply provided in such areas.
