Sir, – A 65-year-old woman has spent the last three weeks in Mountjoy, having been convicted for contempt of court in a dispute involving a few trees on her own land (Home News, October 4th).

Meanwhile, irresponsible bankers have spent the last three years enjoying freedom, with not so much as a single charge brought against them for their reckless mismanagement of billions in others’ money.

This is a shameful juxtaposition; and clear evidence of a two-tiered system of law in this country. – Yours, etc,
