Sir, – As a public sector worker I am sick of the drip-drip propaganda that seeps into the media, particularly coming up to budget time, which paints public sector workers as being overpaid, underworked, lazy and basically the ultimate drain on our economy. The same rhetoric can be seen and heard on a daily basis.
The reality is very different. Yes, there are those in the public sector who earn amazing salaries. The majority do not. Some have taken retirement, many have lost their jobs; the rest have endured salary cuts, levies and an increase in working hours.
It should be noted that we have not been immune to the pain that many in this country are suffering. – Yours, etc,
