Sir, - It has been annoying to many Christians that our President failed to comply with normal courtesy protocol in relation to attire, when received by Pope John Paul II. Eminent lady dignitaries such as Queen Elizabeth II and Hilary Clinton, with many more non-Christian subjects than this country, have found themselves able to show their due respect and dignity to the leader of the largest Christian community.
Presumably our President would not have asserted herself in not following protocol in relation to requirements when received by the leaders of other religions and heads of state. There are many who are of the opinion that an excellent term of office as President has been marred by this indiscretion. - Yours, etc.,
