Pros and cons of the Leaving

Madam, - I would like to thank Susie Hall (August 20th) for her points about the merits of the Leaving Certificate.

However, there are many students who simply can't perform under exam conditions. There are many whose abilities should not be measured by a set of three-hour exams, and whose futures should not be determined by the Leaving Certificate in its present form.

I believe that by looking closely at the Leaving Certificate the Minister for Education would be doing exactly what Ms Hall proposes - removing an inequality within the education system. - Yours, etc.,
