Sir, – I read that the Government is "exploring ways of providing finance to builders" to boost the supply of homes ("Coalition mulls finance options to boost housing supply", September 22nd).
Most of the measures discussed by Cabinet, including, incredibly, the much put-upon State pension reserve fund, seem to involve releasing yet more taxpayers’ money to the developers who got us into the mess we have been paying for over the last six years.
Seemingly, these people are “having difficulty” raising finance from the banks. Aren’t we all?
They should stop moaning to their pals in Government and go down the private investment route. It’s called capitalism. – Yours, etc,
